A seasoned practitioner with more than two decades of experience representing sophisticated business clients, Robert Fleischer, principal of Fleischer Law, takes a no-nonsense, consultative approach to meeting his clients’ legal needs. Robert's practice is focused on general business guidance, business bankruptcy and commercial litigation matters in Connecticut, New York and other jurisdictions. Robert delivers the top-notch service you would expect from the large Manhattan firms, but in a more cost effective and personalized way.
Robert’s experience is deeply rooted in his time as a partner in a small Connecticut-based law firm and, more recently, 8 years with a large Manhattan-based law firm (Pryor Cashman LLP). He provides his clients with incisive legal analysis and practical advice to help them select the best path forward, and does so with cost-effective results.
Robert understands that when legal matters arise, a delayed response from counsel only aggravates problems and causes undue frustration and stress. He strives to respond swiftly to his clients and help them keep ahead of legal issues. He is committed to open and clear communications with his clients - the cornerstone of any effective attorney-client relationship.
Robert is a native of Connecticut. He began his practice in 1993 as an associate with the Wilton, Connecticut law firm Gregory and Adams, P.C., where Robert handled business litigation and bankruptcy matters. In 1997, Robert joined Jacobs Goldman, LLC in Norwalk (later known as Jacobs Partners, LLC) where he became partner in 1999. Robert’s time at Jacobs Partners allowed him to develop skills in business transactions, business litigation and business bankruptcy matters. In 2008, he joined the Manhattan-based law firm Pryor Cashman, LLP (approximately 140 attorneys) where he served in the firm’s Bankruptcy Department. Robert’s time at Pryor Cashman enabled him to better understand the benefits and drawbacks faced by clients choosing to engage large prestigious law firms. He remained at Pryor Cashman until January, 2016 when he returned to Connecticut to open his own practice.
Robert earned his undergraduate degree (B.S. in Business Administration) from Northeastern University. Prior to law school, he worked as an Account Executive with Chicago-based Information Resources, Inc. (IRI), handling client service for some of the company's largest and most demanding East Coast clients, including General Foods, Corp. and PepsiCo. While at IRI, Robert formed relationships with clients and colleagues that he maintains to this day. Robert earned his law degree (J.D.) from Pace University School of Law and was admitted to the Connecticut Bar in December of 1992 and to the New York bar in January of 1993. He is also admitted to practice in the United States Federal District Courts for the District of Connecticut and Southern and Eastern Districts of New York as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and the United States Supreme Court.
Over the last 23 years, Robert has handled numerous business transactional matters for his clients, as well as complex bankruptcy and business litigation matters in state and federal courts in Connecticut and New York. He has also handled cases on special admission in other jurisdictions, including California, Delaware, Massachusetts and Missouri.
Robert is a member of the American Bar Association and the Connecticut Bar Association (CBA). He is also a member of the CBA's Commercial Law and Bankruptcy Section and serves as Secretary of the CBA's Business Law Section.
Robert and his wife Jennifer reside in Milford. The Fleischers have two children, Jacob and Kelsi, both of whom attend St. Gabriel School in Milford. Robert currently serves on the school's Finance Committee. The Fleischers are avid boaters and spend much time during the summers aboard their boat Boon Doggle with family and friends.
